27/100 Days of Creativity: Creatures of Habit

After working all their lives Mick and Alice could finally afford a place they liked.

“This is such a beautiful apartment, I can’t believe we got it for such a great price,” says Alice as she savours a glass of wine from her perch on top of an unopened box of books.

“Aye, that it is,” says Mick as he watches his wife take pleasure in the view and spacious modern kitchen.

The tranquility of their newly acquired retirement haven is abruptly disrupted by the volimes surrounding them upstairs, downstairs and from both sides. Mick glances at his watch and sighs. It’s six o’clock. Time for the news.

For 100 consecutive days I will write and post a short story (about 100 words) incorporating a randomly selected word from Afterliff: A new dictionary of things there should be words for.

Today’s word:
volimes pl.n.
People who turn the television up when eating.

Tomorrow’s word:
prowse v.
To act cool after scoring a brilliant goal, as if you do it all the time.
