7/100 Days of Creativity: Wild Behaviour

Displays of wendling are performed by males seeking to advertise their willingness to mate and attract a partner. Females attracted to this courtship ritual will wait in the characteristic position with a group of other females: abdomen sucked in tight, affected nonchalance and significant fluttering of her eyelashes.

Together they will begin a series of synchronous actions of bobbing and head dips, often in time to music. The intricacy of the dance and his ability to sing a variety of songs at the same time, are also attractive to a female as these are signs of maturity and intelligence – both desirable characteristics of a strong mate. Impressed?
