Romances are huge. They make up the largest share of the US consumer market year after year and are the top-performing category on best-seller lists (source: RWA). If you work with readers of fiction at all, you need to know romance. (Source: Stacked.)
As a professional librarian working in a public library I’m ashamed to admit I know nothing about romance fiction. I read widely. I read chick lit and women’s fiction, but not romance. Using my expertise and knowledge of our collection, catalogue and reference tools I can recommend authors similar to those loved by our customers BUT I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT ROMANCE NOVELS.
This is about to change. I have embarked on a Year of Romance Reading. 2014 is the year I will learn more about romance fiction with a head-to-head LoveMatch: New Zealand v The World.
Hello Sally,
I really don’t read the things but it sounds something great so I will go for it.
Thanks

Good on you, Sally! Great idea-let’s all enjoy a “romantic” new year!
Love this Sally! I will definitely join the challenge 🙂 I’ll feature it on my blog and keep track there and in my Goodreads
Awesome!
Highly recommend the JR Ward series 🙂
Thanks for the rcommendation! I’m looking forward to reading them. 🙂
I love the idea Sally … poster is stunning, hope it is ok if we use it here?, love to make it a real feature event we can promote.

Hi Sandra, if you can print it, you can use it. It’s not a standard size for paper and would probably print best as a banner but I’ll leave that up to you. Love the idea of a feature event too! 🙂
thanks heaps Sally, we thought we would launch the idea Valentines Day and have a voting competition running over some months with some spot prizes etc (probably including chocolate! lol )
mmm chocolate! Sandra, please let me know if there is anything I can do to assist you. xx
Not being a fan of romance either, I’m thinking I would find it difficult to read an erotic fiction book on the bus.
You won’t know unless you try 🙂
